The Transfer Station will undergo scheduled system upgrades on April 29, 2025.
We will be unable to accept credit or debit card transactions on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Please be prepared to pay via cash or check.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we undergo these necessary upgrades.

Overview

The Transfer Station located at 2363 Jeep Road Abilene, KS. is a county-owned facility.

Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Trash collected at this site is transferred to Hamm Quarry in Perry, Kansas.

Fees

• $62 per ton with a $10 minimum charge for 400 pounds or less
• $5 Scale charge
• $10 PENALTY FOR ALL UNCOVERED LOADS OF TRASH
  • Metal and limbs must be tied down
  • Bagged trash must be covered

Material Not Accepted

• Explosives and Ammunition
• Asbestos Waste
• Hazardous Waste - Any waste that requires KDHE special waste authorization
• Any item coated with or containing creosote
• Tree Limbs or Brush over "12 inches" in diameter
• C & D Waste

Please note, the Transfer Station is closed on several major holidays including but not limited to:

• New Year's Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day (4th of July)
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day
